NAMPA CHILD PORNOGRAPHER RE-ARRESTED

After serving two years in federal prison - and within months after finishing his term of supervised release - a Nampa man has been re-arrested and charged with possessing child pornography.

Daniel M. Davis, 49, pled guilty in March 2002 to receiving child pornography. In June of that year, he was sentenced to serve two years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release, which included treatment for sexual deviancy.

Davis served his prison time, successfully finished his period of supervision - including completing sexual deviancy treatment - and registered as a sex offender, but today some 1800 images of child pornography were found on his computer along with more than 120 color photographs of child pornography. He was arrested on a federal complaint and is being held pending trial. No trial date has yet been set.

In addition to the computer images, search agents found two spiral binders, two manilla envelopes and 65 loose photographs containing images of child pornography, some of them apparently printed from the Internet. Among the pictures were images of genital penetration, oral sex, bestiality, and bondage. According to an affidavit filed with the court by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent, some of the victims appeared to be less than six years old.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement also noted that Davis' home is located 50-75 yards from a park and playground equipment.

In court this afternoon, Davis waived his right to a preliminary hearing, so no additional court appearances are currently scheduled.
