METHADONE TREATMENT CENTER TO PAY $25,000 TO SETTLE FEDERAL LAWSUIT

WICHITA, KAN. – METRO Treatment Center, Inc., a registered narcotic treatment program in Wichita, will pay the United States $25,000 to resolve allegations that the methadone clinic violated various recordkeeping regulatory provisions of the Controlled Substances Act, U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren announced today.

In 2003 and again in 2007 the Drug Enforcement Administration inspected the treatment center and cited it for failing to maintain current and accurate records.

The settlement follows a complaint filed in U.S. District Court seeking civil penalties for the alleged violations. METRO denied the allegations, but as part of the settlement agreed to update its computer software system in addition to the cash payment.
