“STREET CORNER DRUG DEALER” SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
TOPEKA, KAN. – Oscar D. Rangel, 20, Topeka, Kan., was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in federal prison on drug charges.
Rangel, whose attorney described him in court documents as a “street corner drug dealer,” pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of crack cocaine. In his plea, Rangel admitted that on Aug. 30, 2006, he sold 49.61 grams of crack cocaine to undercover agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The transaction took place at 502 S.E. 25th Street in Topeka.
U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren commended the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Hendershot for their work on the case.
