TOPEKA MAN’S ATTEMPT TO HAVE SEX WITH 13-YEAR-OLD SENDS HIM TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR 5 YEARS
TOPEKA, KAN. – Jordan C. Watson, 25, Topeka, Kan., was sentenced Monday to 64 months in federal prison for attempting to engage in a sexual act with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
Watson pleaded guilty to one count of interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. In his plea, he admitted that from July 19, 2006, to Dec. 11, 2007, he conducted on-line chats with an undercover officer who was posing as a 13-year-old girl and using the screen name “lil_briannababby.” Watson identified himself as a 21-year-old male photographer.
During the online chats, Watson discussed taking nude pictures of lil_briannababby, masturbation and other sexual acts. On Dec. 11, 2006, he made arrangements to meet lil_briannababby. He told her to “wear something hot,” shave her pubic hair and put her hair in pigtails.
Watson drove from his home in Topeka to the address he was given in Kansas City, Mo., where he was arrested. After he was arrested, he told investigators he had regularly chatted online with about 10 females under the age of 18.
U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren commended the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine Kenney for their work on the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice program aimed at protecting children from online exploitation and sexual abuse.
