Lexington, Ky. —Jacob Allen Curry, 22, of Richmond Ky., was sentenced today to one year in prison for possession of a sawed off shotgun by United States Senior District Court Judge Joseph M. Hood.

In February of 2008, Curry pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted that he knowingly possessed a shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches, located in a safe inside his residence during the execution of a search warrant.

Under federal law, Curry must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, and, upon release, will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for three years.

James A. Zerhusen, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Paul J. Vido, Special Agent in Charge, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Louisville Division, and Larry Brock, Police Chief, Richmond Police Department, jointly made the announcement today after the sentencing.

The investigation was conducted by ATF (Lexington Division) and the Richmond Police Department. The United States was represented by Assistant United States Attorney Hydee R. Hawkins.
