ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGES
– An illegal alien from Mexico who will be deported
– Methamphetamine had street value of $40,000
LOUISVILLE, KY - Reyes Ignacio, age 34, of Indianapolis, Indiana, pled guilty to charges of conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
Ignacio pled guilty and admitted that from on or about November 29, 2007 to November 30, 2007, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, and elsewhere, he conspired with co-defendant Harley Hendrickson to knowingly and intentionally possess with the intent to distribute 400 grams or more of methamphetamine, worth at least $40,000 on the street.
It was revealed during the plea hearing that on or about November 30, 2007, Reyes Ignacio was in Henryville, Indiana and had in his possession a quantity of methamphetamine. This was observed by a Confidential Source, hereinafter CS, who alerted law enforcement that Ignacio was planning on taking the methamphetamine to Hendrickson at his apartment in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally the CS related that Ignacio would be driving a white two door Dodge pick-up truck with an Indiana temporary registration plate in the window of the cab of the truck.
Based upon this information, surveillance was established at the apartment of Harley Hendrickson at the River Oak Apartment Homes in Louisville, Kentucky. Ignacio was observed arriving at Hendrickson’s apartment building. Ignacio went to Hendrickson’s apartment and dropped off a quantity of methamphetamine with Hendrickson. Soon after, Ignacio left the apartment and traveled back to Indiana.
Ignacio was followed to the Mexico Lindo restaurant located at 912 Eastern Blvd., Clarksville, Indiana. Soon after, surveillance observed Ignacio exit the restaurant and walk towards his pick-up truck. At this time, agents and Task Force Officers took Ignacio into custody. Upon arresting Ignacio, officer’s seized approximately $5,000.00 in United States Currency along with the title to Hendrickson’s black Ford Mustang, which was on Ignacio’s person. A review of Ignacio’s cellular telephone indicated that Ignacio had a missed call from Hendrickson’s cellular telephone.
The maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, an $8,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of no less than 10 years; and the minimum potential penalties are 10 years imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of no less than 5 years. Ignacio is a Mexican citizen illegally in the United States and subject to deportation.
Co-defendant, Hendrickson pled guilty on June 16, 2008 and is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Thomas B. Russell on September 15, 2008, at 4:00 p.m., in Louisville, Kentucky. Ignacio is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Russell on October 20, 2008, at 11:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel P. Kinnicutt, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
