BOWLING GREEN, KY - Frederick Earl Williams, Jr., age 41 years old, of Horse Cave, Kentucky, was sentenced to 7 years for his knowing and intentional possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of crack cocaine, U.S. Attorney , David L. Huber, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, and Paul Vido, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Bowling Green Field Division, jointly announced today.

Honorable Thomas B. Russell, United States District Judge, also sentenced Williams to 4 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

In September of 2007, Williams was stopped in Hart County for speeding and crossing over the fog line. Williams gave voluntary consent for a search of his person and his vehicle, but no drugs or weapons were located. The defendant was arrested on an outstanding child support warrant from Jefferson County. At the Hart County Jail, a body cavity search was conducted and approximately 41 grams of crack was retrieved from the defendant’s rectum. The defendant was read his rights and gave a statement admitting his possession of the crack cocaine and his intent to sell it.

Williams was sentenced pursuant to an open plea of guilty in which he admitted that on September 17, 2007 he was in possession of approximately 41 grams of crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $4,100.00, and that it was his intent to sell it on the streets of Warren County. He has three previous state felony convictions for possession of and trafficking in cocaine and marijuana in 1989, 1992, and 1999.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mac Shannon, and it was investigated by the Hart County Sherif’s Office and the ATF.
