NEW ORLEANS INDIVIDUAL PLEADS GUILTY
TO DRUG CHARGES IN FEDERAL COURT

TARON BLACKMON, age 19, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court to possessing drugs with the intent to distribute, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
According to court documents, on February 11, 2007, while conducting surveillance, Special Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and New Orleans Police Officers observed BLACKMON conduct two drug transactions out of a car. Law enforcement approached the car and observed BLACKMON with a plastic bag containing cocaine in his lap. The officers then placed BLACKMON under arrest.
BLACKMON faces a maximum statutory penalty of twenty (20) years incarceration.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and Officers of the New Orleans Police Department.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Liz Privitera of the Violent Crimes Unit.
