CONVICTED FELON IN POSSESSION
OF A FIREARM PLEADS
GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT

LYNDELL MOSLEY, a/k/a “LENDELL MOSLEY,” age 29, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty today to a one-count indictment for possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, while responding to a 911-call about a shooting, NOPD officers discovered that LYNDELL MOSLEY, a/k/a “LENDELL MOSLEY,” was the victim of a shooting on January 22, 2007. An NOPD officer went to MOSLEY’S home to ensure that there were no other victims, and at that time, officers observed in plain view a rifle with two high-capacity cartridges taped to it, and determined that MOSLEY was in possession of a firearm while a convicted felon. As part of a joint initiative against crime, Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, assisted in the investigation against MOSLEY. Upon arrest for another incident, MOSLEY admitted to officers that he had the gun and wanted to sell it for money. Based on the investigation, a federal complaint was filed against MOSLEY on Thursday, May 10, 2007 and an arrest warrant was issued by the U. S. Magistrate Judge. MOSLEY was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on June 1, 2007.
If convicted, MOSLEY faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the New Orleans Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Liz Privitera of the Violent Crime Unit.
