METAIRIE MAN INDICTED BY FEDERAL GRAND JURY
ON DRUG CHARGES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KENNETH VIDALES, a/k/a Dermott Murphy, age 56, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, was charged in a three-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for distribution of five grams or more of cocaine base “crack”, and distribution of fifty grams or more of cocaine base “crack”, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

If convicted, VIDALES faces a minimum of five (5) years and a maximum of forty (40) years imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, at least four (4) years supervised release as to Counts 1 and 2 of the indictment; and a minimum of ten (10) years and a maximum of life imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, at least five (5) years supervised release as to Count 3 of the indictment.

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation was conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Melvin K. Washington.
