PRODUCER OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SENTENCED TO OVER 21 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

JERRY LUCAS, 41, of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier to 21 years and 8 months for producing child pornography in violation of federal law, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, JERRY LUCAS admitted to producing digital images and Polaroid images of child pornography. LUCAS was arrested on February 15, 2007, after FBI agents executed federal search warrants at his residence and office. Inside LUCAS’ home, FBI agents seized evidence consisting of computers and camera equipment which LUCAS used to produce images of child pornography. Moreover, in LUCAS’ bedroom agents discovered pictures depicting LUCAS sexual victimizing a minor child. LUCAS admitted to FBI agents that he produced images of child pornography. He has been in federal custody since his arrest.
Prior to handing down the maximum sentence in this case, Judge Barbier admonished the defendant stating,
“In all my years on the bench, I’ve never seen such a heinous case.”
In addition to the sentence, LUCAS, upon his release from custody, will be placed on supervised release for a a term of life, cannot have unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18, is prohibited from using a computer or the internet, and will have to register as a sex offender.
This investigation was conducted by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, The prosecution of this case was handled by Project Safe Childhood Coordinator, Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba.
