ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JOSE TORRES-MORALES, age 27, a resident of Mexico, a resident of Mexico, plead guilty to a one-count federal indictment for illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to factual basis, on July 27, 2007, JOSE TORRES-MORALES, an alien who had previously been removed and deported from the United States, was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without have applied to the Attorney General of the United States or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-admission to the United States.
A sentencing hearing was scheduled for March 5, 2007 by Judge Ivan R Lemelle.
JOSE TORRES-MORALES faces a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the U. S. Border Patrol. The prosecution is being handled by by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
