ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED TO TIME IN FEDERAL PRISON

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARCO ANTONIO CHAVARRIA-LUNA, age 35, a resident of Mexico, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman to fifteen (15) months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. After serving his sentence the defendant will be deported to Mexico.

According to court documents, MARCO ANTONIO CHAVARRIA-LUNA pled guilty on December 20, 2007 to being an alien who had previously been removed and deported from the United States, was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without have applied to the Attorney General of the United States or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-admission to the United States.

The investigation was conducted by the U. S. Border Patrol. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
