COVINGTON MAN SENTENCED TO 56 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON
April 17, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DELLOYD MARIGNY, age 20, a resident of Covington, Louisiana, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Court Judge Carl J. Barbier to fifty-six (56) months imprisonment for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Barbier imposed three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
On October 31, 2007, MARIGNY pled guilty to a one count indictment. According to court documents, on August 29, 2007, Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation received information that Harold Allen possessed a semi-automatic assault rifle which had been stolen from a Special Agent’s residence. Further investigation revealed that Allen sold the rifle to MARIGNY who was aware that the gun had been stolen. After sentencing, MARIGNY was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s service to begin his term of imprisonment.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. The matter was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney, Duane A. Evans.
