Applicants for Support Staff Positions

The U.S. Attorney’s Office employs a large number of support staff members in a variety of positions. Support staff positions include: Legal Assistant, Lead Legal Assistant, Paralegal Specialist, Administrative Support Specialist and other administrative and legal support positions ranging in grades from GS-5 up to and including GS-15. The General Schedule (GS) salary scale for the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area may be obtained by contacting the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) web site at: http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/

Support staff positions are normally career or career conditional appointments in the competitive service.

Separate vacancy announcements are prepared and provide the opening and closing dates, the areas of consideration and qualification requirements, and are distributed as support staff vacancies occur.

Applicants interested in receiving consideration for support staff vacancies in the District of Maryland should submit either a resume, or an Optional Form (OF-612), that describes job related qualifications and any additional documents required in the vacancy announcement, to the following address:

The OPM Brochure OF-510 “Applying for a Federal Job” outlines what is required. The OF-510, OF-612, and information about applying for Federal Jobs is available from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) website at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/forms.asp.

The Human Resources Office also maintains an Applicant Supply File for applications received outside of a specific job announcement. Applications in the Applicant Supply File will be maintained for a 6-12 month period. Applicants submitting applications to the applicant supply file should use the above mailing address.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Please note that all employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background investigation. Applicants are also subject to drug testing by urinalysis.
