BALTIMORE CAREER CRIMINAL EXILED FOR 20 YEARS TO FEDERAL PRISON
“Man for Whom an Occasional Arrest is Just a Temporary Lull in a Life of Drug Dealing and Violent Crime”
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis sentenced Enoch Edison, age 47, of Baltimore today to 20 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Davis enhanced Edison’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on five prior narcotics and battery convictions.
“Enoch Edison was a typical career criminal, a man for whom an occasional arrest is just a temporary lull in a life of drug dealing and violent crime,” said United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein. “We are working with our partners to make the streets of Baltimore more safe by putting the career criminals behind bars.”
According to his guilty plea, members of the DEA Mobile Enforcement Team and Baltimore City Police Department searched Edison’s residence on March 27, 2007, having previously observed Edison engaged in several drug transactions. They recovered a back pack in a bathroom ceiling which contained: $5,140; a loaded Bersa Mini-Firestorm .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol; additional ammunition; 174 grams of crack cocaine, 63.6 grams of cocaine and 3.5 grams of marijuana; and a digital scale and drug packaging materials.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Baltimore City Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney A. David Copperthite, who prosecuted the case.
