ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR REENTRY INTO U.S.

Deported in 2005 After Being Convicted of Second Degree Murder

 

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett sentenced Herman Alvardo, age 45, today to four years in prison followed by two years of supervised release for unlawful reentry into the United States, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.

 

According to his guilty plea, on May 15, 1997, Alvardo was convicted of Second Degree Murder With a Weapon in the state of Florida. As a result of this conviction, Alvardo was deported to his native country of El Salvador on December 19, 2005. At some point thereafter, Alvardo returned to the United States. Alvardo was arrested on September 20, 2006 in Baltimore County, Maryland and taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on December 7, 2006.

 

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Paul E. Budlow, who prosecuted the case.
