For Immediate Release POPLAR BLUFF MAN SENTENCED
TO 24 MONTHS FOR
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION A Poplar Bluff, Missouri man was sentenced today for unlawful possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway. CARLOS SHAW was sentenced to 24 months on one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He appeared before United States District Judge E. Richard Webber. On October 17, 2007, ATF officers searched a residence in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, that was the home of Shaw's mother and stepfather. Officers searched Shaw’s room and found a Colt .380 caliber pistol, which was seized by the officers. Due to Mr. Shaw's previous felony conviction, he is prohibited from possessing firearms. Hanaway praised the Poplar Bluff Police Department, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their work on the case. Assistant United States Attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the Government. |
