JEFFERSON COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON MULTIPLE FEDERAL WEAPONS VIOLATIONS

St. Louis, MO: Dominique Charles Bourn was sentenced to 33 months in prison on federal weapons charges, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway announced today.

“Our office will continue to work with ATF, Chief Mokwa and Jefferson County Sheriff Boyer to get these illegal firearms off of our streets,” said Hanaway.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Joe Mokwa said, “As the Police Chief of the City where Bourn unlawfully trafficked firearms, I commend the agents and officers on this investigation. This reinforces our commitment to reducing firearms trafficking, and violence in St. Louis.”

“The reduction in illegal firearms trafficking remains among ATF's highest priorities, and I would like to thank both the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office for their support,” added ATF Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jeff Fulton.

Between April and September 2007, an associate of Bourn purchased numerous firearms from a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) near Desoto, Missouri for Bourn, by making false statements on the paperwork representing that the associate was the actual purchaser instead of Bourn. Bourn, who is a previously convicted felon, is forbidden to own or possess firearms.

DOMINIQUE CHARLES BOURN, Desoto, Missouri, pled guilty in April to eight felony counts of making false statements to a licensed firearms dealer and eight felony counts of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant United States Attorney Allison Behrens, who handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
