RIPLEY COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 33 MONTHS FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM

A Ripley County, Missouri man was sentenced today on federal gun charges, announced United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway.

DARYL MONROE CROWDER was sentenced to 33 months on one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He appeared before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

On October 9, 2007, several United States Marshals arrived at the residence of Daryl Crowder in Ripley County, Missouri, to arrest him on an outstanding Illinois arrest warrant. During his arrest, deputy marshals discovered several firearms in that residence. Due to Mr. Crowder's previous felony conviction, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Hanaway praised the United States Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their work on the case. Assistant United States Attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the Government.
