June 3, 2008 WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI, COUPLE INDICTED AND ARRESTED ON FEDERAL DRUG DISTRIBUTION CHARGES St. Louis, MO: Randall and Vera Russell were indicted and arrested on Oxycontin distribution charges, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway announced today. The indictment alleges that between July 2005 and the present time, the Russells’ possessed Oxycontin with intent to distribute it to others in Phelps County and elsewhere. RANDALL RUSSELL and VERA RUSSELL, both of West Plains, Missouri, were each indicted May 1 by a federal grand jury in St. Louis on one felony count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute Oxycontin. Both of the Russells were arrested this morning and are expected to make appearances in federal court in St. Louis later today. If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum penalty of twenty years in prison and or fines up to $1,000,000. Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the South Central Drug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration Diversion Division and Assistant United States Attorney Noelle Collins, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. |
