May 6, 2008 HIGH RIDGE, MISSOURI MAN SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES St. Louis, MO: Larry Lumley was sentenced to 96 months in prison on federal charges involving his manufacture of methamphetamine, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway and Jefferson County Sheriff Oliver “Glenn” Boyer announced today. “In addition to injuring himself, Lumley showed no regard for the life of his elderly mother by exposing her to these dangerous chemicals,” said Hanaway. “Once again the professional prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office has allowed us to remove a dangerous felon from our streets and further protect our citizens from the hazards of manufacturing methamphetamine,” added Sheriff Boyer. On March 22, 2006, High Ridge Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a trailer fire on Sunshine Drive in High Ridge, Missouri. When they arrived, a portion of the trailer was on fire. In distinguishing the fire, they located items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine. They contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department to assist, and upon arriving, narcotics detectives examined the damaged trailer. The fire had started in the bedroom, and detectives located a number of items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine. Some of these items were transported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory, where they were tested and determined to contain approximately 54 grams of methamphetamine. Lumley resided at the Sunshine Drive address with his elderly mother. When interviewed by fire personnel, she reported that she had been in the living room of the home and that her son was in the bedroom. Lumley came out of the bedroom and got a cup of coffee, and then returned to the bedroom. She reported that a short time later, Lumley came out of the bedroom again, but this time he and his robe were on fire. She rolled her son up in a rug to extinguish the flames, but he suffered significant injuries as a result of the fire. LARRY LUMLEY, High Ridge, Missouri, pled guilty in January to one felony count of manufacturing methamphetamine. He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh. In addition to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the High Ridge Fire Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. |
