KARIS BLANK FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT
Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on November 8, 2007, in Billings, after a 4-day federal district court trial before U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, KARIS BLANK, a 42-year-old resident of Laurel, was found guilty of disability fraud and wire fraud. Sentencing is set for February 14, 2007. She is currently released on special conditions.
BLANK faces possible penalties of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 3 years supervised release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Leif M. Johnson prosecuted the case for the United States.
The investigation was conducted by the Office of the Inspector General of the United States Postal Service.
