JOHN FLOYD YEARBY, JR. FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT


Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on November 20, 2007, in Butte, after a 2-day federal district court trial before Chief U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, JOHN FLOYD YEARBY, JR., a 26-year-old resident of Columbus, Georgia, was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine. Sentencing is set for March 13, 2008. YEARBY is currently released on special conditions.

YEARBY faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison and could be sentenced to life in prison, a $4,000,000 fine and 5 years supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Racicot prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Missouri River Drug Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
