SHANE DOUGLAS SICHTING FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT


Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on December 5, 2007, in Missoula, after a 21/2 day federal district court trial before Chief U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, SHANE DOUGLAS SICHTING, a 39-year-old resident of Libby, was found guilty of murder-for-hire. Sentencing is set for April 4, 2008. SICHTING is currently detained.

SICHTING faces possible penalties of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 3 years supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kris A. McLean prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kalispell Police Department.
