STANETTE PATRICIA CROWE FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT


Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on January 31, 2008, in Great Falls, after a 2-day federal district court trial before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, STANETTE PATRICIA CROWE, a 21-year-old resident of Brocketon, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Sentencing is set for May 12, 2008. She is currently detained.

CROWE faces possible penalties of 6 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 3 years supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard A. Hosley prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Fort Peck Tribes Criminal Investigation Division, the Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office and the Brockton Police Department.
