JOSHUA BESTWINA FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT


Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on March 5, 2008, in Missoula, after a 2-day federal district court trial before U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, JOSHUA BESTWINA, a 29-year-old resident of Missoula, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine. He was acquitted on the charge of distribution of marijuana. Sentencing is set for July 11, 2008. BESTWINA is currently released on special conditions.

BESTWINA faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and could be sentenced to life, a $4,000,000 fine and 5 years supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh Van de Wetering prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Missoula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.
