WAYNE DEPUTEE FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT


Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on July 22, 2008, in Billings, after a 2-day federal district court trial before U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, WAYNE DEPUTEE, a 52-year-old resident of Lodge Grass, was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse. Sentencing is set for October 23, 2008. DEPUTEE is currently detained.

DEPUTEE faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison and could be sentenced to life, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Harper Suek prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
