Student Opportunities
Volunteer internships for law school students are available
during the fall and spring academic semesters, as well as during the summer.
Within the semester students work 10 hours per week for approximately
13 weeks. The summer program is full-time work, 40 hours weekly, for 10
weeks. Paid positions may be available depending on funding. Through these
programs students are exposed to many facets of criminal or civil litigation
practices.
The U.S. Attorney's Office conducts on-campus interviews for internships
at the following local law schools:
- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- North Carolina Central University
- Duke University
- Campbell University
- Wake Forest University
Interviews at all these schools are usually conducted
in September and October. These dates are subject to change. Interested
persons should contact law their schools' placement offices for exact
dates and sign-up opportunities. They also should review the information
provided by the United States Attorney's office to their placement offices
before seeking interviews. Please note that law students are hired for
internship positions only. Law students will not be interviewed for attorney
positions.
Limited programs also are available for undergraduate students.
