Southeast Raleigh

Southeast Raleigh became the second Officially Recognized Weed and Seed site in the Capitol City on February 4, 1999. As a result of the recognition, Southeast Raleigh is eligible to attend Weed and Seed conferences, receive training and technical assistance, preference in applying for certain federal grants, and use of the official Weed and Seed logo. The target area is also eligible for funding for special law enforcement operations. Southeast Raleigh will also be eligible to apply for Weed and Seed funding when additional funds are made available for the program.

The Southeast Raleigh target area is set within the following street perimeters: South Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to the north, Vardaman Street and South State Street to the east, Peterson Street and City Farm Road to the south, and Wilmington Street to the west. The steering committee for the project has designated this area as the "WE CAN" (Community Action Neighborhood) Weed and Seed strategy.

On June 1, 2004, the Thompson-Hunter Community Partnership in Raleigh was officially recognized as an expansion Weed & Seed Site adjacent to the existing Southeast Raleigh We Can site. The boundaries for the Thompson-Hunter target area are Wilmington, Haywood and Swain Streets to the west, New Bern Avenue to the north; Tarboro and Rock Quarry Roads to the east and Martin Luther King Blvd. and Peterson Street to the south.
