The Asheville Branch Office of the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of North Carolilna serves the counties of Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Yancey, Polk. The Asheville Branch Office is located in the western part of North Carolina in the magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains.
The office works closely with the federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to prosecute these cases.
The office prosecutes crimes related to the internet, such as child pornography along with a variety of other types of cases including bank robberies, environmental crimes, controlled substance offenses and firearms offenses.
The Asheville Branch Office is staffed by five Criminal,three Civil AUSAs and five Legal support.
The Asheville Court consists of one United States District judge, a Bankruptcy judge, and one Magistrate judge. Asheville judge also sits in the Bryson City Division.
