PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS
EPPING MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON
ON FEDERAL FIREARMS CHARGE
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE - Jeffrey Lance Brown, of Epping, NH was sentenced in United States District Court in Concord to serve three years in federal prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Paul J. Barbadoro also ordered the defendant to serve three years of supervised release following his release from prison.
The prosecution resulted from an incident on November 9, 2006, when Epping Police discovered the defendant in possession of a shotgun while hunting. Brown had been convicted in 1991 of bank robbery in Oklahoma and thus prohibited him from possessing firearms under federal law.
The case was investigated by the Epping Police Department and the Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Clyde Garrigan. Project Safe Neighborhoods is a federal program to reduce gun violence in New Hampshire by aggressive investigation and prosecution of firearm offenders, education of the public, and training of law enforcement.
