OPERATION STREETSWEEPER

QUEEN CITY WOMAN SENTENCED FOR DEALING CRACK COCAINE

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE - United States Attorney Tom Colantuono announced
that yesterday U.S. Chief District Judge Steven J. McAuliffe sentenced Silvia Casto to eighteen months in prison based upon her earlier plea of guilty to selling crack cocaine. Casto was caught selling crack cocaine on four occasions in the summer of 2006. Casto, was last known to reside in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Chief Judge McAuliffe also ordered that Casto, upon completing her prison term, serve a term of supervised release of three years. During her period of supervised release, Casto will be required to abide by certain rules set by Chief Judge McAuliffe. If she violates those rules, she could be sent back to prison.

This matter was investigated by the New Hampshire Drug Task Force as part of Operation Streetsweeper, a federal program administered by the United States Attorney’s Office to reduce street-level drug distribution in New Hampshire’s larger cities. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Morse prosecuted the case.
