LECC (Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee)

The United States Attorney's Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) consists of the federal, state, and local agencies involved in law enforcement in the District of New Jersey. The goal of this committee is to improve cooperation and coordination among law enforcement groups, along with community-based efforts concerning crime issues. Each of the 93 United States Attorney's Offices has designated an LECC program to facilitate and to design responses that will result in positive criminal justice outcomes.

The LECC also has several subcommittees, each concentrating its focus on a specific area of concern for the District. The subcommittees are comprised of law enforcement representatives from federal, state, and local agencies, including an Assistant United States Attorney. These subcommittees meet periodically and interact to discuss operations, identify concerns, and improve services to the community. The subcommittees include Asset Forfeiture, Environmental Crimes, Financial Fraud, Hate Crimes, Health Care, OCDETF, Technology, Terrorism and Violent Crimes.

The LECC is involved in planning and sponsoring training for the law enforcement community. The training covers many areas of interest, such as asset forfeiture, grant writing, Project Safe Neighborhoods, identity theft, Weed and Seed, child abduction, and community policing. The training is conducted based on the needs of the LECC, considering recommendations from members of the District's law enforcement community.

The LECC Program Manager for the District of New Jersey is Shirley Estreicher, who can be reached at (973) 645-2893.
