The Northern District of New York is composed of thirty-two (32) counties. The most frequently spoken non-English language is Spanish. Other foreign languages spoken in Upstate New York are Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Korean.
El Distrito De Nueva York-Norte se compone de 32 condados. El español es el idioma, aparte del inglés, que se habla con mas frecuencia. The United States Attorney’s Office is committed to ensuring that services are readily available to all Limited English Proficiency individuals. Thus, the following Language Assistance Plan is provided to all individuals:

LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE PLAN (LAP)

1. Limited English Proficiency (LEP) individuals may choose either to hire their own interpreter, at their own expense, or an interpreter will be provided by the USAO-NDNY.

2. The USAO-NDNY will take appropriate steps to ensure that interpretation and translation services are provided by individuals who are competent to provide services in the individual’s native language. Knowledge of and comprehension of language to be interpreted or transcribed will be required by the interpreter.

El USAO-NDNY tomará medidas apropiadas para asegurar que los servicios de interpretación y de traducción sean proporcionados por individuos quienes son competentes en la lengua materna del individuo. 3. The USAO-NDNY has established within the office personnel or language assistance resources who are capable of providing assistance in the most frequently requested languages. The listing of these individuals is maintained by the USAO-receptionist. Spanish assistance is available through AUSA Carlos Moreno at (518-431-0247 ext. 1212) or AUSA Carl Eurenius at (315-448-0672). All other language assistance will be addressed on a person-by-person basis.
3. El USAO-NDNY tiene entre su personal de oficina o de los recursos de ayuda de idioma individuos quienes son capaces de proporcionar ayuda en los idiomas solicitados con más frecuencia. 4. Victim/Witness Assistance - The USAO-NDNY has available, in both English and Spanish, copies of the form entitled “Complaint-Alleging Failure of Department of Justice Employee to Provide Rights to a Crime Victim Under the Crime Victims’ Rights Act of 2004". If a victim requires assistance, he/she may contact AUSA Andrew Baxter at (888-539-4535).
4. Asistencia a la Victima/Testigo - El USAO-NDNY tiene disponible, en inglés y español, copias de la forma titulada "Queja-Alegando la falta de proporcionar los derechos a la víctima de crimen por los empleados del Ministerio de Justicia bajo el acto de los derechos de las víctimas de crimen de 2004".
