Gregory A. White, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio,
announced today that Zvonko Sarlog, age 37, a police officer who had served in the Second District of the Cleveland Police Department, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David D. Dowd, Jr., in connection with pleas of guilty to conspiring to distribute at least five kilograms of cocaine and conspiracy to launder the proceeds of illegal drug sales. Sarlog was sentenced to 121 months imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a mandatory $200 special assessment. Sarlog, who had been in pretrial detention since his August 2007 arrest, was immediately remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Internal Affairs Unit of the Cleveland Police Department. The sentencing proceeding was handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Robert J. Patton and Bernard A. Smith.
