If you are suffering abuse
from someone with access to your computer, they may be able to read
your e-mail or view your computer cache file to determine what websites
you have recently viewed.
Also, please be aware that software is commonly available that monitors a computer's
every keystroke, site viewed, and chat held via the Internet, wholly unknown
to the computer user.
You may wish to consider using a computer in a public location, such as a county
or college library, to research support information. If you are afraid that
trying to find support information with your computer may be discovered, call
the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7283), TDD 1-800-787-3224 instead of e-mailing any organization.
You can clear the cache from showing that you viewed this page by taking the following actions:
Using Microsoft Internet Explorer:
- Select Tools | Internet Options...
- On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, select
Delete Files.
(Select the OK button when asked to confirm)
- On the General tab, under History, select the Clear History button. (Select the OK button when asked to confirm)
- Select the OK button, then close the browser.
Using Netscape Navigator:
- Select Edit | Preferences.
- On the Navigator window, under History, click the Clear History
button. (Select the OK button when asked to confirm)
- On the Navigator window, under Location Bar History, click the Clear
Location Bar button
(Select the OK button when asked to confirm)
- Click on the + sign beside the Advanced heading
- Click on the Cache heading
- On the Cache window, click the Clear Memory Cache button (Select
the OK button when asked to confirm)
- On the Cache window, click the Clear Disk Cache button (Select the
OK button when asked to confirm). Close the browser.
