Portland, Ore. – A former high school teacher at Grand View Baptist Church in Beaver Creek, Oregon was sentenced today to 27 months in federal prison following his guilty plea on October 22, 2007, to the crime of possession of child pornography. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Ancer L. Haggerty ordered Justin Michael Gillen, 26, of Oregon City, to serve three years on federal supervised release following the completion of his prison term.
Gillen was further ordered to forfeit his personal computer seized from his residence by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at the time of his arrest. The computer contained over 266 images of child pornography.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, the U.S. Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney’s Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
