Rollin' 60's Gang Associate Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison

Judge imposes mandatory minimum sentence in crack cocaine case

Portland, Ore. – Rico Orlando Gonzalez, age 35, of Portland, Oregon, was sentenced on February 22, 2008, by United States District Court Judge Ancer L. Haggerty to a mandatory minimum sentence of 120 months in federal prison, to be followed by eight years of supervised release.  

On December 10, 2007, the defendant plead guilty to possession with the intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base, in the form of crack cocaine.  Based upon his prior state convictions for unlawfully possessing crack cocaine, the defendant faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 120 months in federal prison.  The defendant, a long time Portland gang member associated with the Rollin’ 60’s Crips, had prior convictions for unlawfully possessing a firearm and crack cocaine. 

This case was a joint investigation involving the Portland Police Bureau’s Drugs and Vice Division, the Metro Gang Task Force, and the Portland Police Bureau’s Cold Case Homicide Unit.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Scott Kerin.  Mr. Kerin can be reached at (503) 727-1002.
