Ryan Snider Sentenced to 144 Months in Federal Prison for Distribution of Cocaine

Defendant Commits Second Crime While Pending Sentencing on First Case

Portland, Ore. – On Friday, April 11, 2008, Ryan Snider, 32, of Oregon City, Oregon, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Ancer L. Haggerty to 144 months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release.  The sentence was imposed in two separate cases:  CR 07-124-HA and CR 08-172-HA.

On October 11, 2007, in CR 07-124-HA, Snider pled guilty to the distribution of cocaine.  In his plea agreement Snider admitted that the cocaine he distributed resulted in the death of another individual.

On January 10, 2008, while he was out of custody and awaiting sentencing, Snider was arrested for again distributing cocaine.  On Friday, April 11, 2008, in CR 08-172-HA, Snider entered a guilty plea to that conduct.  As part of his plea agreement the defendant also forfeited his interest in a 2007 Interstate Cargo Trailer, and approximately $11,000 in U.S. Currency.  In total, eight individuals were prosecuted in state and federal court as part of this joint investigation.

This case was investigated by Portland Police Bureau-Drugs and Vice Division, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, and the Regional Organized Crime Narcotics (ROCN) Task Force.  The Sherwood Police Department assisted in the investigation.  The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office and the Washington County District Attorney’s Offices prosecuted related cases in state court.  The federal case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Kerin, who also appeared as a Special Deputy District Attorney and co-counsel in the Multnomah County cases.
