Denver Lanes Bloods Gang Member Sentenced to 70 Months in Prison for Profiting from the Prostitution of a Child

Portland, Ore. — Deandre Travon Green, 25, of Aloha, Oregon, was sentenced today to 70 months in prison and three years of supervised release by United States District Court Judge Garr M. King for the crime of Transportation of an Individual for Illegal Sexual Activity, in violation of the Mann Act.  Green pled guilty on April 28, 2008.  As a condition of his supervision he shall register, as required by law, as a sex offender.

“The prostitution of a minor, by both her pimp as well as the ‘johns’ taking advantage of her, is a crime that offends all standards of civility,” said U.S. Attorney Karin J. Immergut.  “Simply put, this defendant profited from the sexual abuse of a child.”

In March 2007, the defendant initially met the victim, a 15-year old girl, in Portland, Oregon.  Shortly thereafter the defendant recruited her to work as a prostitute for him in the area.  The defendant, a Denver Lanes Bloods gang member, explained to the victim that this was a business and that she was to respect her pimp (the defendant) and give him all of her money.  While working as a prostitute for the defendant, the victim was required to make $1,000 a day.  When the victim started having second thoughts, the defendant told her, “I know where you live and your family lives.  I will kill you and your family if you say anything to anybody.  You’re mine now.”  Due to concerns for her own safety, the victim continued to work as a prostitute for the defendant and she continued giving him the money she earned by turning “dates.”  The prostitution activities were set up either by working on “the street” or through advertisements on Craigslist.com.

In the middle of May 2007, the defendant took the victim to California, and then later to Arizona and Nevada and then once again back to California to work as a prostitute.  When she protested, the defendant would again threaten her and her family.  The victim was rescued in August 2007, when she and the defendant were both arrested in Los Angeles, California.

The case was investigated by the Beaverton Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department.  The U. S.
