PHILADELPHIA MAN RECEIVES FEDERAL PRISON SENTENCE

Thomas A. Marino, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced today that Jesse Brown, age 35, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was sentenced today by United States District Judge James F. McClure, Jr. to a term of imprisonment for illegally possessing a firearm. Judge McClure sentenced Brown to a 168 month term of imprisonment and further ordered that he serve a 5 year term of supervised release.

According to U.S. Attorney Marino, Brown was in possession of a .40 caliber firearm when he traveled to a residence in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where he got into a confrontation and shot another individual. Following the confrontation, the firearm was discarded and discovered weeks later. Ballistic tests revealed that it was the same firearm used in the shooting.

Brown has three prior criminal convictions which prohibit him from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Lycoming County Drug Task Force and the Williamsport Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frederick E. Martin.

U.S. Attorney Marino thanked the individuals and agencies for their dedication and reminded gun-toting criminals that law enforcement is serious about prosecuting criminals who threaten communities with illegal and dangerous activities.
