LACKAWANNA COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR FIVE ROBBERIES

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Lackawanna County man who robbed three banks, a credit union, and a service station between April 13, 2007 and May 1, 2007, was sentenced today to 75 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Acting U.S. Attorney Carlson stated that Mark Dennis, age 25, pleaded guilty on July 18, 2007, to committing the offenses. Dennis admitted to robbing the NET Federal Credit Union in Scranton, PennStar Bank in Dunmore, Fidelity Deposit Bank in Moosic, Penn Security Bank in Scranton, and Moletsky’s Garage in Scranton. Dennis took a total of $7,683 during the robberies.

Judge Munley ordered Dennis to pay full restitution to the victims in the case. Dennis will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence, and must pay a $500 special assessment.

Acting U.S. Attorney Carlson noted that the case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local police in Scranton, Moosic, and Dunmore.
