BRADFORD COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 37 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR METHAMPHETAMINE CRIME

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Wyalusing man was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve more than three years in federal prison for attempting to manufacture and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Carlson stated that William T. Johnson, II, age 24, pleaded guilty to the offense on October 10, 2007. Johnson committed the offense in August 2006.

Johnson’s prosecution resulted from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Pennsylvania State Police.

Judge Munley also ordered Johnson to be placed on two years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Johnson must also pay a $100 special assessment and pay restitution to the Pennsylvania State Police for the costs of the clean-up and disposal of the substances used to manufacture the methamphetamine.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Francis P. Sempa and Todd K. Hinkley.
