LUZERNE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 80 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR ILLEGALLY POSSESSING FIREARM

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Wilkes-Barre man was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Edwin M. Kosik to serve 80 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Carlson stated that Ryan Kehoe, age 30, pleaded guilty to the charge on June 18, 2007. Kehoe admitted to possessing the gun in January 2007. At the time he possessed the gun, Kehoe had previously been convicted of a felony offense.

Kehoe’s prosecution resulted from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Wilkes-Barre Police.

Judge Kosik also ordered Kehoe to be placed on three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Kehoe must also pay a $100 special assessment.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
