NEW YORK MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING IN LEBANON COUNTY

Thomas A. Marino, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced today that a former New York resident was sentenced in federal court to a 10-year jail term for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking through Lebanon County in October of 2006. According to Mr. Marino, John Edward Mazyck, age 36, formerly of New York City, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment, and a three-year term of supervised release following his guilty plea conviction for drug distribution. These charges arose out of an October 18, 2006 traffic stop in which Mazyck was found to be in possession of approximately 19 ounces of crack cocaine.

United States Attorney Marino noted that under the United States Sentencing Guidelines currently in effect, parole has been abolished, and Mazyck will be required to serve at least 85% of the sentence, assuming he receives full time off for good behavior while in prison.

U.S. Attorney Marino praised the work of the various law enforcement agencies involved: “Once again the good men and women who serve in law enforcement on the local, county, state, and federal level have joined together in a common purpose: to aggressively and relentlessly pursue drug traffickers wherever they may be.” First Assistant U.S. Attorney Martin C. Carlson has been handling the prosecution of this case, which was investigated federally by the Pennsylvania State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
