YORK DRUG TRAFFICKER SENTENCED TO 106 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that Anthony A. Mims, Jr., age 23, of York, Pennsylvania, was sentenced yesterday by United States District Judge William W. Caldwell to a term of imprisonment for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Judge Caldwell sentenced Mims to a 106-month term of imprisonment and further ordered that Mims pay a $1,200 fine and serve a three-year term of supervised release.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Carlson, in February 2007, police in York, Pennsylvania, were investigating drug trafficking in the city. A confidential informant working with the York County Drug Task Force made several purchases of crack cocaine from Mims. York County Drug Task Force police arrested Mims and while he was being taken into custody, a loaded Lorcin Model L380 .380 caliber handgun was found in his waistband. Police also found a baggie containing additional quantities of crack cocaine in Mims’ possession.

Following his arrest, police executed a search of Mims’ residence and recovered an F&W revolver and over four grams of crack cocaine. The total amount of crack cocaine attributed to Mims is over seven grams.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the York County Drug Task Force and prosecuted under the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative by Assistant United States Attorney Eric Pfisterer.
