SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR SELLING METHAMPHETAMINE

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Susquehanna County man was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie to serve 108 months in federal prison for participating in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy during 2002 through 2006.

Carlson stated that Donald Overfield, age 47, pleaded guilty to the offense on October 18, 2007. Overfield admitted that he and an associate, Jacky Ann Snyder, distributed methamphetamine to numerous customers in the Susquehanna County area. Snyder received a 38-month prison sentence for assisting Overfield in his drug trafficking business.

Overfield’s prosecution resulted from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Pennsylvania State Police.

Judge Vanaskie also ordered Overfield to be placed on five years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Overfield was also ordered to forfeit to the government a property in Rush Township, and to pay a $100 special assessment. Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Francis P. Sempa and Todd K. Hinkley.
