WILKES-BARRE MAN SENTENCED TO 75 MONTHS IN PRISON
FOR SELLING CRACK

Thomas A. Marino, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Wilkes-Barre man was sentenced on August 31, 2007 by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 63 months in prison for distributing crack cocaine, and received 12 additional months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge A. Richard Caputo for committing the offense while he was on supervised release for a previous drug crime.

Marino stated that Rohan Reid, age 27, previously pleaded guilty to committing the offense on January 17, 2007 in Wilkes-Barre.

Reid was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 23, 2007, as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pennsylvania State Police, and Wilkes-Barre Police.

Judge Munley also ordered Reid to be placed on three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Reid must also pay a $100 special assessment.

In a separate proceeding the same day, Reid was sentenced by Judge Caputo to serve an additional 12 months in prison for committing the current drug offense while on supervised release for a previous drug offense.

Marino noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
