PENNSYLVANIA BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS Thomas A. Marino, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced today that James Spence, age 39, of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today by United States District Chief Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie to a 120-month term of imprisonment for committing two bank robberies and violating a term of supervised release. According to U.S. Attorney Marino, Spence admitted to robbing the First Community National Bank in Nanticoke of $1290 on April 28, 2004, and robbing Omega Bank in State College of $1600 on April 29, 2004. During both robberies, Spence handed the bank tellers a demand note and said that he had a gun. In March 2006, Spence pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbery. Spence committed these offences while on supervised release from a previous bank robbery conviction. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Nanticoke Police Department and the State College Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Francis P.
